DeviantART Muro was launched in honor of the tenth anniversary of the Deviant Art website. The original Deviant Art website was founded in August of 2000. Based out of Hollywood, California, the current team includes the site’s founders Matthew Stephens, Scott Jarkoff and Angelo Sotira as well as investor and advisor Travis Kalanick. The website has grown tremendously in popularity and continues to be a popular hangout for artists and other creative personalities.
DeviantART Muro offers users a number of ways to create and draw. The application provides numerous brush types and other tools. The basic versus pro interface toggle is another great feature rarely seen elsewhere. Deviant Art members can also appreciate the automatic submission button that lets them load their newly created drawings directly to their profile.
DeviantART Muro welcomes users with a dark header and footer bar. Hints of lime green are found in buttons and logos; however a majority of the page is left blank. This is naturally a good choice because the application is intended to leave the creativity to the user. Along the bottom, the user can find color and drawing tools as well as slider bars for opacity, size and “webbiness.” A small slider button in the page header allows the user to toggle between basic view and pro view. Pro adds layer tools, accessible along the right hand side of the editor page.
Visitors can use DeviantART Muro to draw without logging in. However those who would like to save their work and upload it to the site should create a Deviant Art account. This can be done by clicking the site logo in the upper, left hand corner. The user can find a “Join Deviant Art for Free” link along the right hand side of the header on the following page. The user is presented with the registration form on the next page. The form asks for a full name, username, email address and password. The user is also asked to provide their date of birth and gender (which is optional).
DeviantART Muro is offered to all users for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges for using the application. The user can access both the basic and pro interfaces just be visiting the website. Users are not required to log in either; however doing so will give the user access to all available features that come with Muro. Users can buy Brush Packs, Dragon Packs and Splatter Packs to use in their drawings.
DeviantART Muro is ideal for users who have a Deviant Art account. The application gives users a way to draw online with numerous tools, colors and brushes. The application is easy to use and limitless in its creative possibilities.
